| Description: | Newbury Park is the setting for this offshoot of a Santa Barbara steakhouse that grills up not only corn-fed beef from the Midwest, but also rack of lamb topped with elephant garlic sauce. A pork chop gets some heat from jalapeños and a brandy peppercorn sauce. Seafood items run from bouillabaisse with lobster in a Pernod broth to pan-roasted salmon with spinach or mashed potatoes. The brick walls and modern art keep the ambience from getting too stuffy, but the small booths might make you feel a bit squished, especially after eating a 24-ounce, bone-in cowboy cut of rib-eye with spicy onion rings. At lunch they offer a shrimp Louie salad and tempura-style fish ‘n’ chips as alternatives to the steak sandwich and half-pound burger. The bar (a replica of the 1918 original in Santa Barbara) is stocked with fine Cognac, 12- to 21-year-old scotch, bourbon and plenty of California wines. More than 20 martinis are mixed nightly.
